Hi all,

after installing the 10.6.8 update my Word 2011 stopped showing equations properly, both that of MathType 6.7 and Word 2008 Equation Editor. The new Word 2011 equation editor still works fine, but I find horrible to use. Interestingly, if the .docx/.doc is saved as a PDF within Word the equations show up just fine. However, if you're working with a lot of equations it would help a lot to see what is written where.

Below is a screenshot of what it looks like:

Does anyone have a clue what might've happened? I installed all updates for both Word 2011 and 2008, but without success.

Thanks for any help!

Jerry

(PS: sorry if this is a double post, I tried searching the forums, but could not find any others with the same problem.)

For future reference:

Apparently either Word or something (someone?) else checked the feature "image placeholders" in Word > Preferences > View. Simply uncheck it and you're good to go. Still don't know how this option ever got checked in the first place, though.
