I've been working on a PC for awhile and inserting a lot of tables into my word 2010 docs with formula's added to them. I recently was attempting to do the same thing in word 2011 for mac and spent about a half an hour looking for the button to no avail. Does anybody know if this feature is available in word 2011 for mac I'm going crazy here.

I did see the equation button it did not function like the formula button unless I'm completely missing something.

I'm trying to make the grey percentage =(b2/c2) and i tried typing this out in the (type equation here) and it did not work.

I have a feeling I'm missing something simple but not sure what it is.

Is this what you're looking for? Sorry for the spanish, but the translation should be pretty straightforward (Table, Formula).

I should add that in OS X you can assign ANY menu to a keyboard shortcut. So, if it is indeed what you want, you can assign the function to a custom keyboard combination.
