Word 2016 Draining Battery

Anyone have issues with Word 2016 and battery usage? Even when running in the background, iStat reports it as using significant energy and my MBP won't last more than a couple of hours. I'm running the latest version.
 
I stopped using Word on the Mac, it has been a memory hog on my Macs and I have not figured out how to address it.

The only bit I can figure is that it could be tied to MS's means to create proxy files for undo/redo - Word's Energy Impact shoots up tenfold or more as soon as typing begins and drops considerably when typing is not taking place. I've found that using Word 2016 for Windows running in a Win 10 Pro 64-bit VM via Parallels Desktop 12 uses less energy and has a smaller Energy Impact than Word 2016 for Mac. I'm sorry I can't offer any more advice or input, I've taken to working in Word for Windows...
