This is probably a common question. I searched for some threads but had no luck.

I'm not a fan of TextEdit so I don't typically use it for taking notes of any kind which is why I'm searching for a sleek word processing type application.

I already have Microsoft Office for Mac which I use for papers and assignments but I'm looking for something a little sleeker for just random note taking (not even necessarily for school)

There are a lot of apps for this but I was wondering what all of you seem to favour..

A nice, simple word processing app....Bean. And when I downloaded it, it was free. Nothing fancy, but easy and useful.:D

I love iA Writer. It is so minimal it does not have a menu bar or preference pane. It does support Markdown though and it has a beautiful UI. Also is one of the first Apps to use iCloud document sync to move files seamlessly between your Mac and iPad.
