Word for Mac: Chapter no.'s in scroll bar or page

I have a book manuscript in Word for Mac. I'm having a hard time incorporating my chapter numbers to be seen as one scrolls down the document. At this point, I would also be satisfied with the chapter number being seen next to the page number. I've been trying to figure this out in bullets and formatting, but whacky things are happening.

Can anyone help?

If your goal is to navigate to different chapters/sections more easily, you can use the Document Map. Note that this only works if you've properly formatted your headings with Word's styles.

To show the document map, go to View -> Sidebar -> Document Map Pane.
