Word keeps quitting!!

MBP 2018 15"
I have been running Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac on my MBP's since 2008 but since I have upgraded my MBP to Mojave 10.14.1 Word doesn't run properly, every time I go to 'Page Setup' it quits, shuts down, takes me back to my desktop. Very annoying as all my correspondence is done with it!

Can I revert to High Sierra or is there a fix for this problem?

Any suggestions please.

I honestly don't even have Office 2008 any more so I can perform any tests. You can downgrade your Mac to High Sierra, IF you have a High Sierra install image or USB around.

But it is a very temporary fix, since you have to update your Mac at some point. I think you may need to update to the latest version of Office.

\Probably time to ditch Office and start working with Pages! It doesn't have any where near the facilities Sword has but it'll probably do the job!!

Oh the good old days of Office for Mac 2008. By which I mean memories of bugs, errors and force quitting. I can tell you Office for Mac nowadays is a lot better, may be worth considering if iWork doesn't fulfill your needs (I use both for compatibility reasons and the more advanced functions of Excel and Word).

2008? am impressed it's worked this long for you. i have clients on 2011 with issues... either go with pages (i did), or check out the current MS options (to buy, vs monthly).

i agree with Lunder89, above. why downgrade your OS? makes more sense to upgrade the app...

Wow - Office 2008 is almost 11 years old now. Office 2016 and 2019 are available with perpetual licenses. I own them both. I paid $65. for Office 2016 a couple years ago and recently paid $70. for Office 2019. Both can be updated monthly. Office 2016 will be supported through 2020.

You're lucky Office 2008 for Mac worked this long. Office 2011 works on Mojave but there are warnings that it won't for the next MacOS release. It is my understanding that you need to keep Mojave to run your 2018 MBP. Since Office 2019 for Mac and Windows (non-subscription regular license) was just released IMO you should probably just go with that and be set with Office for at least the next five years.

You are welcome. Yes, Pages is also a good option (and free ). But I need to ask, which feature it is you feel you are missing? Honestly I only use Word, when I know I need to share a file for someone else to edit later.

I think mail-merge and styles for fonts and colors, are the only two things I have found Pages is lacking for my needs.
