I am a college student and I have a Macbook Pro. Most of the lecture notes my professors put on their sites are in .doc format so I have been using MS Office for Mac. I am getting tired of the sluggish performance since it is running under rosetta. I do like the note mode that Word has although I do not use the voice record feature.
I am looking for another comparable program that can run natively with Intel systems. I have heard of Open Office but is this a universal binary? I searched but did not see anything on it. Maybe I just looked over it. Do any of you have any suggestions for word processing apps that will read .doc files and have the same features as Word does?
