I went to use my Zoom H2 with GarageBand and was dismayed that the low power issue with the USB camera kit still exists in iOS 4.3. Does anyone have a good portable solution to this problem? I have read that powered USB hubs do the job, but I can't find one that has portability, I.e. All the powered hubs require the use of a wall outlet.

Any suggestions would be appreciated as I would love to use my H2 with GarageBand.

Battery-powered USB hub

I have this, it works well...

'CyberPower Mobile Battery Powered 4-Port USB Hub (CP-H420MP)' by Cyber Power http://amzn.to/hF7R3i

Or the other option would be using regular powered hub and use this to supply the power to the hub, might need custom USB to DC jack. http://amzn.to/fbjtQQ

Re: Battery-powered USB hub

There used to be a battery-powered model a few years ago but it appears it's no longer in production. It's still in the catalog in Amazon but unavailable.

I wonder why there is no solution for this. All those users out there with things like Yeti mics and such are anchored to an AC outlet if they want to use it with the iPad.

poppap, that solution with the battery booster sounds good. Have you seen it in action, does it definitely work?
