Workflow CS3 & iphoto 08

I recently bought photoshop and have a couple questions. I love how iphoto organizes all my photos. Events view are great. I set up iphoto to use photoshop as my external editor. After I edit the photo how can I have photoshop to update the photo in iphoto? Do I need to use bridge? What is bridge used for? I would rather not use it. Im sure Im gonna have more questions so thanks. I tried using search but couldn't find my answer. Right now I import using iphoto and use its editor for small touch ups. Then if it needs more i send to photoshop. Is this the easiest way?
