I'm trying to setup a simple video editing workflow using a Macbook Pro for cutting. It's plugged to LAN via ethernet RJ-45, and connected to a Windows 7 desktop computer with two big Raid arrays that are being shared also via wired connection.

So far it's been faulty, and I can't reliably edit. The media will disconnect a bunch of times, I'll get timeouts, and even Finder will crash.

The network connection is clearly solid, but the file sharing part is giving me a headache.

Is there a better way to do this instead of using native Windows File Sharing?

Cheers!
