I'm curious if anyone had a chance to work with MBA in the sun/sunny condition for a bit longer time and how color affected it's thermal throttling. I really want to get Midnight Blue but I'm afraid it will throttle a LOT more than ie. Sky Blue.
Maybe someone has direct experience and could tell me how this relates to thermal management, maybe they throttle the same and it doesn't matter much?

Edit: I will be getting 15" 32GB version.
Edit 2: Yes, I know all the potential shortcomings, please stay on topic. I'm asking only MBA users that have tested it themselves.

Which use case do you have in mind? What work are you doing on the machine?

If you are concerned the heat from the sun will cause the MBA to throttle faster due to the color of the MBA, that is a big red flag to not use the MBA or a MBP in the heat of the day where direct sunlight can affect its performance and longevity.

If you're worried about throttling, get a Pro that has a fan.
Or Mac Studio? :D
Thanks for the suggestion, yes, I know the MBP has a fan, I already have an MBP.
The thread is about the MBA.

I won't stress it out too much, but it won't be one tab in the browser either. I'm thinking about the 15" version with 32GB, coding and a bit of Photoshop.

I would not expect this to be a major issue if it happens on occasion in a temperate climate. But if you work every day at noon in the summer sun in a hot climate, you might want to reconsider. Above 60 degrees Celsius, you will notice throttling. And your battery will suffer.

Sure, I understand that and I'm well aware of it theoretically, but I am looking specifically for opinions and experiences of people who used the laptop in this way, which I clearly stated in the first post.

Your machine will throttle and your battery will degrade faster if it’s in the full midday sun. Will the dark colour option contribute to the problem: definitely yes. By how much? I don’t know.

Once again, I know the theory. I'm looking for opinions from people who have their own experiences, as I wrote in the original post.

The iPhone or iPad Pro M4 was created, among other things, to be used in full sunlight, it shouldn't be much different in the case of MBA.

I only have fanless MB 12” spacegrey experience which under direct summer sun was swimming off due to overheating. So i guess invest in an umbrella;)

Nano-texture display is more important if you are working outside in the sun.

Stay away from the MacBook Air
