Working with DV and 1080pHD footage in the same project

I am recording the scenes using 2 cameras an old JVC DV tape camera and a newer Canon HG10 HD camera.

What is the most efficient way to set up the project I assume rendering the .dv will take less long so setting it up in the native HD format would be preferable?

I am using two cameras so I am able to cut between shots to make it more interesting. Sadly these are clips where continuity is important so it is not a case of just being able to re record the clips using the HD camera.

Which NLE (non-linear editor) are you using? iMovie? FCE? FCP? Premiere?

Im using FCE 4.0.0 as Im having some trouble downloading 4.0.1 from school!
