With all the hoopla over the new generation intel drives, I'm about to jump on one and make it a boot/application drive while I have my firewire external drive and time capsule as my storage drives.
I have one question though, for people who already have this setup going. When thinking about an external storage for day to day usage, do you configure basic apps like Safari to automatically download to the external (via prefs)? And is it right to assume that the home folder is basically disregarded in this case for SSD boot drives? What about apps such as iPhoto with libraries that reside on the boot drive to begin with?
Even though I know these new generation SSds can last quite long if you don't do massive GB writes per day, I'd still like to know the most optimized way to work in OSX while using the SSD as the boot/application drive.
Thanks in advance who can chime in on their strategies.
