Working with Trash Can in iMovie

I just finished uploading 44 GB of HD Video content onto my iMac, then suddenly iMovie closed unexpectledly! When i reopened it, it showed all my video in the trash...Is there a way of moving all that video that ended up in the trash back onto the main drawingboard?
