Workout buddy not working because more iPhone storage is needed (>100GB free)

I wanted to try out the Workout Buddy feature, but when I try to enable it for a workout on my Watch, the slider is greyed out and the message below it says "To use Workout Buddy, more storage is needed on your iPhone." My iPhone has 256GB, of which 116.89GB is used.

Apple Watch Pro Ultra 2 with 26.0.2
iPhone 16 Pro with 26.0.1

Is this a known bug of some kind? Any suggestions?

OK, well, I had not tried anything but given your query, I went ahead and rebooted my iPhone and Watch and now it seems to be working, so thanks for that.
