I wanted to get your thoughts on this subject. I use to use Nike+ for all running. That app has a GPS strength indicator. Green=strong Yellow=weak, etc. I have noticed that when I first open the Nike+ app the GPS signal is often weak and red (coming from outdoor to run outside). If I start the run at that time it results in an inaccurate run distance and a failure to record the temperature.
But, if I wait for the GPS to lock and get green the run is accurate with all location data.
This has caused me to be concerned about calibration and accuracy when using the workout app, since that app has no GPS strength indicator. I've taken to opening the Nike+ app and waiting for a GPS lock before I start a run in the workout app, in the hopes of having a better calibration.
If you are going from inside to am outdoor run, you may want to wait for a GPS lock before starting a run. Thoughts?
