I have a first gen watch and have used the fitness tracker for two years. This week when using the fitness app the rate at which calories are burned has suddenly more than doubled. Used to be I burned about 65 calories per mile @ 3 mph walking. Now it's more like 130. Did something change?

Mine started doing that for no reason, I sorted it by going into the watch app on the phone and resetting the move/activity calibration and it went back to normal again

You should always take calorie counts as a rough estimation, anyway. A test was done of all leading activity trackers (Apple Watch, FitBit etc) and they were all found to be, in some cases, quite a way out on calories burned after a workout. The Apple Watch was found to have the most accurate heart rate monitor, however.
