I only have 18mins of active minutes out of 30 and 9 of those were from early in the day. I went for a 20min walk and it only gave me 9 active minutes. I thought when I start a workout it gives me all the time. So I should have gotten my 20mins added to my goal.

2nd day with the AW and it seemed to work that way yesterday.

That sucks. A workout is a workout and should count as long as I log it.
Unless you are getting your HR up to about 60% or higher of your MHR, it is NOT a workout. Subtract your age from 220 and then multiply by 0.6 and this will give you a general idea of what your HR needs to be at a minimum in order to be considered a 'workout'. You will probably need to elevate it in the 70% or higher range to be effective.
