Does anyone know how to do this with Virtual PC 7 on Mac OS X's Finder instead?

I use a PowerBook G4 1.33Ghz, 1GB ram, 80GB

I can't boot into Mac OS 9 with this mac that's the whole problem. I'm using OS X 10.2.8 for this Hack...

Don't bother. That old post claims a 10-20% speed-up. For most applications, such a speed increase requires an active imagination to make a difference. Remember that this was back in the days of MacOS 9. There is no doubt that it worked. It worked with SoftWindows running on System 7.1 back in 1994. But, MacOS X is not MacOS 9 and it is certainly not System 7. System 7 through MacOS 9 used cooperative multi-tasking. Virtual PC 7 runs exclusively under MacOS X, which runs on top of Darwin. The MacOS X Finder is fundamentally different. The underlying OS is preemptive multi-tasking. If you got the barely perceptable 10-20% increase in MacOS 9, you would expect much less of an increase under MacOS X.
