Apple today shared a new ad called "Worlds Made on iPad" on its YouTube channel. The video features green-screen footage from actress Sofia Wylie overlaid on three different animated backdrops, which Apple says were created by illustrators using the new iPad Pro with the M4 chip and the Apple Pencil Pro.

"One piece of green screen footage interpreted by different animators using iPad Pro powered by the M4 chip, and the new Apple Pencil Pro," says Apple's video description. The ad is set to the song "Concentrate" by Billy Lemos (featuring Dua Saleh).

Apple also shared a behind-the-scenes YouTube Short:

The new iPad Pro, iPad Air, and Apple Pencil Pro launched on May 15.

Key new features of the Apple Pencil Pro include the ability to squeeze the accessory to bring up a tool palette, a gyroscope that allows users to roll the Apple Pencil Pro for precise control of shaped pen and brush tools, haptic feedback for certain actions, and the ability to find the Apple Pencil Pro in the Find My app if it is misplaced.

Priced at $129, the Apple Pencil Pro is only compatible with the new iPad Pro and iPad Air models.

Amazing. It's been a while I've had a favorite Apple ad. If only they opened with this at their event. Just tweak the ending to reveal the new iPad Pro and there ya' go.

I don't understand it. is that now an ad for art, the work of animators or what?
Serious, dont even know which Apps were used.

Do you remember the old iPad and iPhone ads? When you have seen what you could do with the product?
Here you just see a woman running and jumping.

Make the test: Imagine you are not an Apple fan and you dont know the title of the video.

Please don't get me wrong. The three pieces look nice. But I don't know what Apple is advertising. I can't find any connection to any product. Yes, it says "Animated on iPad with Apps from the App store".
Could it have been animated on Android or Mac? I don't know, but also don't know what Apple is advertising here.

I was likewise wondering about this. So done on an iPad. Was it easier than doing the same on a Mac ?? What is the differentiator for iPad ??

It's not about the apps, but the creativity. The hardware capabilities unleash the creativity for *any* app and creator that leverages them.

The original version was reportedly called ‘Worlds Destroyed on iPad’, but they changed it at the last minute for some reason.

I was curious about the apps too. I counted three: Procreate Dreams and two others I didn’t know. I found out through some random googling that the app used to animate the Colossus video is Naomi Animation. The last app I have seen in the vertical ad was some kind of modeler. Going by the UI, it looks like Nomad Sculpt.

Interestingly, there’s a tutorial in Naomi to import Nomad sculpts. It’s too bad Naomi is a rather expensive subscription app.

I don't understand this part of your question. If it was animated on iPad, it means that this is the power that the new iPad has. A small handheld device with a screen can do such cool things. That is mindblowing. Everyone who knows about animation knows that it used to take a heavily equipped computer to do this kind of stuff. Now, not anymore.

Made with iPad doesn't mean made only with the iPad. From what I can tell some of the backgrounds are made in a iPad painting app but the comping and masking appears to be done on a desktop app. I am not aware of any tablet app that can do camera motion tracking and green screen removal and masking at that level. In the first shot isn't that After Effects transform controls on the right?

Green screen removing can be done in iMovie ;-) or DaVinci Resolve – both available for iPad. If the green screen and the camera footage have been properly lit, I don't think that this is such a big deal. Don't know about the motion tracking, can Resovle do that as well?
You can see in the clip that the compositing was also made on iPad.
At the end of the clip, it says "additional hardware and software used for music" – so my guess is that everything else was done on iPad. Which is really impressive.
