Hi everyone,

I recently posted a thread about upgrading my macbook pro to an ssd and RAM.

Well, I did that upgrade, and I can say I saw performance boost.

But, I am going to purchase a wacom cintiq 13HD really really soon (like next week) and I am concerned that my macbook pro can't handle another display on it.
Plus, I don't even know if this thing will completely die tomorrow. People mentioned that just because I upgraded to an SSD and RAM doesn't mean that my macbook's life was extended.

So, I also was just thinking about ditching getting a cintiq and get a brand new iMac. The 21.5" from september 2013. It is the one with a 2.7ghz processor. Then next year when I have the cash I can buy a cintiq and my iMac will last me a good few years. BTW, I do stuff with after effects, flash pro, illustrator, photoshop.

But I don't know. Will my macbook pro 15" 2009 last me a good 2 years? Or should I get a desktop computer.

Thanks,
Rockwell

Make regular Time Machine backups, and you should be fine in case of a hardware failure. If it still meets your needs, then why upgrade? If it's not longer meeting your needs then it might be time to upgrade.

Ok, thank you.

Oh yeah, in terms of a processor for an iMac.

is 1.4ghz good for using adobe apps? Or would I go with a 2.7ghz?

Thanks
Rockwell

I would avoid the 1.4GHz, it's a dual core ULV cpu - the same one you get in a MacBook Air.

Also,

Anyone own a wacom product and are using it on an older MBP?

I think I will buy a cintiq now, then next year go for a new iMac.

Thanks

Hi,
Does anyone use wacom on older macbook pro's?

I really want to make sure that I will not waste money on a cintiq, then my macbook pro dies.

Thanks,
Rockwell
