With only 2 more sleeps until I receive my iPhone Xs max I’m growing more concerned about scratching it, I want to use the phone but I am really worried I may scratch it, do you think this phone should be durable, my main worry is the stainless steel band, I’m worried that when I put a case on it I might scratch it or something, The fact it was expensive is also another reason I’m worried about damaging it, is anyone else feeling the same as me?

It's going to be scratched. You can put a screen protector on, you can put it in a case. Its eventually going to get a scratch or ding. Buy a new car and it will put you concerns into perspective. Theres is nothing that can be done about shopping carts or door dings from careless motorists.

Your phone will get a scratch but it wont cost $800 to get buffed out at the body shop.

There's my X in an Apple leather case it is going to get micro scratches even the sides but not as many. Use it enjoy it the scratches just give it character.

Cars are expensive. They get scratched up. So what?

I’ve got an Apple silicone case I’m going to put it in, do you reccomend the leather case? Thanks for your reply.

I don’t recommend one over the other I just like the leather case better you have to get what you like

If you want it to remain flawless, leave it in the box and rest easy. Otherwise understand its a device and its meat to be used and get an otterbox and a screen protector and you'll be fine.

I would say this or life proof but these cases make the iPhone ridiculously large and cumbersome. not to mention pretty ugly.

This is why I don't buy my phones outright anymore, I just trade them in after a year. Now I can use my phone with no ugly cases or screen protectors. But to help with your dilemma the SS band is pretty durable on my X. If I hold it up to the light I can just barely see light swirls, but nothing even approaching scratching. I wouldn't worry about the SS scratching with putting a case on/off, and it's going to swirl up a bit no matter what you do. My screen has 2 very small scratches that you can barely feel with a fingernail and can only see if you have the screen off and tilt it to the perfect angle. Keep in mind I'm pretty hard on my phone.

Isn't it ridiculous that we can spend nearly £1500 on a product designed to be used outdoors that can't be safely used outdoors without a case! It really is a case of form over function.

What screen protectors do yall recomend, I can never seem to put them on the phone without getting bubbles

Since the first iPhone, my phone goes into my left pocket and only my phone. 11 years later, same thing. Never did I get one scratch on my iPhone. And I upgrade every year.

I recommend therapy for OCD. Gadgets get scratched, dirty, dusty, fingerprints... That's how physics work, you can only avoid it by keeping it sealed and not using it. Don't be afraid to use your phone, enjoy it afterall it's a tool and it was made for that. :)

Well then you're a prime candidate for one of those massive otterbox cases and a 1" thick glass screen protector. That way you're phone will never see a scratch.

I don't have a screen protector on mine and never scratched it. Hell i've never scratched any phone so I don't worry about it at all.

So basically buy an expensive phone with premium materials and reduce the screen quality with a thick glass screen protector and hide all the design with a massive otterbox plastic case. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
