My iPhone 15 gets hot while charging, whether it’s with an old power adapter or a new fast charging one. With the latter it’s get more hot, obvoiously.

Is this normal? I don’t recall my iPhone 12 ever getting this hot while charging with the same power adapters. I’m worried this will accelerate the battery degradation.

Doesn’t Android phones have mechanisms that prevent their phones from heating this much when fast charging?

It’s not normal for the phone to heat so much just charging.

If its that bad take it back, I charge mine all the time on multiple different size of chargers and it gets a little warm just like every single other iPhone I've ever had.

You haven’t really specified how much heat it’s generating though. It IS normal for phones to get warm, especially when fast charging. It’s not normal for phones to get so hot that they automatically stop charging. That part has happened to me before with in-car wireless chargers.

It has been this way for the past few iPhones ever since fast charging was a thing. Depending on what charging block you are using from 0-50% it will have the most heat since it will charge at 25W+, from there it drops in charging wattage and by 85-100% it will be relatively cool while charging. I never tested but as someone else mentioned if you just use 5W it may stay cool throughout the whole charging process if the heat is a concern to you.

It's normal for you phone to get warm. Especially when:
-Playing triple a titles
-Recording continously

Even my Samsung t7 ssd gets very during editing or recording.

I use the original 5W Apple charger with a USB-A to USB-C charger cable and it does not even get warm. It is perfect for overnight charging.

What you’re describing is simply “getting warm;” the phone will stop charging or power down if it overheats
