7AM please, let me vent. I'm an audio engineer. I've been thinking about the new xp campaign. kind of worrying.

on the one hand, these adds strike apple where it 'used' to be impenetrable. the pro design market. Apple (and its user base) seem to have taken the macs reputation for pro-creativity for granted. As an audio guy. Protools H-TDM is key here. it sucks, it's standard, it's cross platform, and its not intel native yet... making it perfect for xp to take a huge chunk out of. photoshop too....

on the other hand, The campaign itself is a total ripoff of the mac brand + I heart huckabees.... the site hardly even loads on my computer and the movies are in asx. so....

what am I worried about? Apple had something great going with artists. and it was relatively unspoken. now, apple has made their brand into creativity but watered down what 80 percent of the "creative people" have on their machines. I would hate to see apples pro market dwindle and have the installed base turn into "I'm-an-artist-with-my-black-turtle-neck-and-mac" people. (pseudo creatives buying the branding)

as the branding continues, and the underlying computer become more PC like, the loyalty seems to be dwindling...

I LOVE APPLE. sigh.... I need to make some music
