When I first got my rMBP, I migrated all my data from my older Macbook using Migration Assistant. My older macbook was a 2011 MBP running 10.8.5. Everything worked very well after that. The UI performance - of which I was really concerned - was perfectly smooth.

But then, I decided to to a fresh reinstall Mavericks. My UI performance is noticeable worse. Using Quicklook, the animation shows particularly low framerates.

Why is this? How can doing a fresh reinstall actually worsen performance?

I had the same experience on my 15" rMBP. Luckily, before I clean restored I cloned my SSD to a DMG file. I gave Mavericks a week, but then just cloned my DMG back on to the SSD and I was rolling again like nothing had happened!

I've done a fresh install on my brand new rMBP 15" but I haven't noticed a slower UI. Does it lag with Mission Control?

EDIT: it has actually slowed down a lot of the last few days, many animations are stuttery using the Iris Pro (Mission Control, scrolling) at retina quality (1440x900 size). The higher resolutions are unusable.
