I have a 2019 15" MacBook Pro i9, 32gb, 2tb, Vega 20. My intent is for the device to be usable for my main work and play for another 2-3 years.

Via a friend I could sell this and buy his 2020 MBP i9, 32gb, 2tb, 5600m with AppleCare (until July 2023) and the cost after selling my current would be about $1000.

Such to say for $1000 I get a 1 year newer machine with the 16" minor upgrades (thermals, speakers, mic, keyboard) and warranty.

I have zero issues with my current 2019 and in fact use Bootcamp and macOS with an eGPU flawlessly (that took forever to figure out and thank you to the great folks at gpu.io)

I don't personally see this upgrade as worth it, but then I look at the current state of the m1 and my own use cases and worry that the last intel MacBook pro will be the one I want for a while, so thinking buy into that now with the warranty and then make the next decision on Apple Silicon vs. Windows in a couple years and maybe Apple Silicon will be where I need it to be or my own workflows will have changed.
