MBP pro MID 2014:

- 16GB ram;
- Intel Iris Graphics;
- 256 GB SSD;
- i7 2.2Ghz;

Plan to sell it, then get iMac 5k 2017 with following specs:

- 8GB ram;
- Radeon Pro 580;
- i5 3.5GHZ;
- 2TB fusion drive;

Is it good replace for MBP?

The iMac will be dramatically faster, though obviously less portable.

What do you do on the MBP that you need more power for?

Dunno so much about dramatically faster: nice old platter with a small SSD in that Fusion Drive. I tried one in a store recently and my 2014 MBP with 16GB and 512SSD felt faster. Remember also that for all intents and purposes, you’re stuck with the Fusion Drive - not easy to upgrade those iMac drives. If you get one with a decent size SSD, then you’re talking (1TB or up).

It will be faster for gaming and that screen that’s as massive bonus, I would get the 256gb ssd option and use external storage but the 2TB fusion is fine.

Yeah, I agree. Get the biggest SSD you can afford and use external storage. Better option than a fusion drive.
