Sorry if a similar question has been asked but I can't quite find a thread that discussed this.

I have a 13 Pro and am looking at either upgrading to the 16 Pro or waiting for the 17. With Verizon I can get $1000 Trade In credit right now for my 13 Pro, which makes my upgrade come out to about $100 over the 36 months of the payment plan to get the 16 Pro right now. One other caveat to consider (doesn't currently bother me at all) is that my maximum capacity is at 79% + a new battery only would run me $89 I think it is.

Do you think if I were to wait until the 17 that either my 13 Pro trade in credit will go down, and thus the net out of pocket cost would increase, or do you think the trade in value will remain steady? Similarly, do you think the new iPhones will end up coming in at a a higher price point due to tariffs, etc. Acknowledging nobody knows for sure, but maybe someone has some insight into how trade-in values tend to trend when new phones are released.

Thanks in advance everyone!

Is $1000 confirmed for your 13 Pro or just the maximum value? Meaning you might get a lower value based on weak battery and other condition.

I would say simply wait, you can either get the 16 Pro for a little less when 17 arrives or get the 17 itself.

I have Verizon too and have noticed over the last decade that on new phone launches it always differs. If they don’t offer a large trade in credit at launch usually few months in they do. When I got my 14Pro in 2022 they gave me $900 for my basic 11.

I have 4 lines on Verizon ($180/month) and I've amassed upgrades available on 3 of those lines. I upgraded my 14 Pro to the 16 Pro Max and only had to pay the tax - about $100. I had no plans to upgrade yet but I've been itching to go back to the larger Pro Max model so when the rep at Verizon offered me the trade-in deal I jumped on it. I'm thrilled to have the big model again!

I also got a credit of $10 per line for 12 months so I'm paying $140 total each month for a year. That's 4 lines, unlimited everything.
