Hey all,

I currently have the low end 13" 2.3ghz MBP from early 2011 with 8GB of ram installed. I am happy with my computer, though have some concerns with my hardware life. I could purchase applecare, though for roughly the same price of the plan I can sell my MBP and switch to a refurbished air which is covered for a year anyway. The model in particular is the 13" 1.7ghz i5 released last July.

I am aware that SSD's speed things up quite a bit, but how comparable would the performance be to my current MBP? Besides occasionally opening photoshop I typically only use word, safari, and spottily 99% of the time so nothing too intense. Would the downgrade in ram affect me much? I have yet to use the CD drive and don't need the HDD space so I am not too concerned with that.

Would it be worth it switching over to the refurb? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
