Worth Upgrading to Garageband 08 with OSX?

Hi,
I have a Mac Pro 2.66 (not MBP) with 5GB RAM, running OSX 10.4 (I think).

I have several questions, mostly related to Garageband:

1. I'm wondering if the initial problems that I read that some people had with Garageband 08 (from iLife 08) have been resolved to the extent that it is worth upgrading to iLife 08.

2. Also, I read that GB 08 records in 24-bit, but exports at 16 bit. Is that true?

3. Because I'm going to instal several huge programs (full version of Final Cut, and several others), my humble main hard drive will be almost full, so I'm wondering if iLife will run from drives other than that upon which the OS is installed

Any other information regarding problems with iLife 08 on my OS would be much appreciated.

You can export at 24 bit if you want (as well as 16 bit). I haven't had any problems with it. It was totally worth the upgrade for me, but then I was upgrading from iLife 04....
