Would a 1TB disk work on a mid 2010 MBP?

I'm thinking of upgrading my Macbook Pro's HDD (250GB). I'm thinking of getting a 500gb disk but have seen terabyte ones, would these work in it or is it a hardware limitation?

Any 2.5" S-ATA HDD with a maximum height of 12.5mm will work, including 1TB HDDs.

Samsung's new 2-platter 1TB drive should be released soon and has much better performance than today's 3-platter designs.

Actually it's already been released; just not available in all markets yet. Anyways, I will be picking one up today since I'd like to move my SSD back into the stock HDD bay.
