my old 3g phone would flip to edge when 3g wasn't available. would a 3g iphone do the same, or just flounder without service when there isnt a 3g signal?

i just wasn't sure whether 3g chips were backwards compatible. i mean, that piece of crap drained its power so fast, it could easily have had two chips in it....

i understand, but you must understand apple will take that into account when they finally produce 3g iphones... they'll probably increase the charge capacity on the battery, as well as doing some other things to bump the batt life to counter the 3g batt drainage...
