hi fellas!
long time no see ... i've been happily ever after with the mbp i bought ages ago. now that my warranty is running out and i really feel that some things are not as good as i want them to be on my laptop ... i am turning to you for good advice.
i have a 15' mbp (3,1) with an intel core 2 duo 2,4 ghz, gforce 8600m gt 256 mb ram and i built in 4 gigs of ram, 320 gigs @ 7200 rotations some time ago. but i am not really happy because the hard disk drive has its little hickups and sometimes the system is really slow, plus ... having this book for years now kinda wore the battery which only lasts me for about 2 hours or so anymore.
then there is another thing: i found a job in advertising / media planning and i work with windows xp there. privately, i turned away from windows because i could not stand seeing it anymore but programs i really need like excel and powerpoint are just crap on mac and please don't try to argue with me about this point: i am using very advanced stuff in excel and my excel:mac (2008) just does not get it right.
but also: i use photoshop a lot ... but my current mbp is good enough for that kinda work. it's just creating websites, logos, retouching photos etc. ... so nothing major here. then, i watch a ton of movies/tv shows on my mbp. so you could say that i am pretty much a multi-media user.
now i am wondering what to do:
1.) well of course i would wait for a new mbp to come out as the current one is end of circle. with the mbp i chose now, i got myself the very high end version - would this make sense again?
2.) should i get a windows notebook instead? i would go for windows 7 anyway on another partition on a mac and i am not sure if i'd really need os x if windows 7 works well with the stuff i need.
3.) or would it be best to not buy anything until my current mbp really falls apart? the thing still works well after all.
ah: and i've got an iphone
much appreciated!
thanks
