would Apple launch it the same way they did with the MBP? I mean surely the next device to get it would be either the MBP Air or an iMac...but it seems like Apple is in the post-PC era and so desktops are kind of looked at like "old fashion" it seems..

so my question, would a retina iMac be special or just a silent update most likely?

I would imagine anything other than a regular spec bump would entail some kind of launch event. And a retina iMac would be something much more than a spec bump.

We really have no chance of seeing a Retina iMac before 2013 as reports have just said that the retina mbp has its graphics maxed out only on a 15 inch display.

A Retina iMac would almost certainly have a much faster CPU and GPU, just as the iMac has had faster components than the MBP. I don't believe the Retina MBP performance is any proof of what will happen.

Damnit! There aren't any new rumours going around. Somebody make something up please. Tell us the new iMac will be renamed to MacMan and have a photo of Steve Jobs' right brain hemisphere as the default background.

Or maybe the new iMac dispenses juice directly into your mouth.

It launched yesterday but the website is stuck on the layout for the day before.

Stock levels at resellers are so low that they deliver your iMac in sections and pieces.

It's a major update called the iMac Pro, which has the special feature of having even longer periods between updates.

Apple is renaming itself to Pear so that they can sue Nickelodeon.

The iMac launch will be titled 'Return of the Mac', or 'Mac Daddy', or 'Mac & Cheese', or 'Mac Donalds', or 'Mac Truck', or 'Mr. Mackey'.

I don't know. Someone come up with something. :D

I doubt we will see Retina iMacs this year. Such high pixel densities on such large displays will be very expensive for another year or two.

Didn't you hear?
They're implementing a little hub that lets you control the mac with your brain-waves. Problem is, porn sites kept popping up unintendedly on many of the test subjects. They need to fix that problem first.
