Hello everyone,

This is my first post in here.I have Macbook Pro 13’’ 2017 / i5 / 256gb / 16gb .I like it very much but there could be an opportunity for me to buy new Macbook Air 13’’ 2020 / i5 / 256gb / 8gb with a discounted price. My question is: Do you think the switch is worth it, if i don’t pay any money over the old one?Or do you think 2017 Pro, is still better than the new Air?

My usage is MS Office, web browsing, YouTube, Netflix, Spotify. What is your opinion?Thank you.

Howdy Cenk83,

For your usage, you probably won't notice much of a performance difference, but the battery life might be better on the 2020. However, the difference in RAM might cause you issues down the road. IMHO, 16 GB is the minimum for a computer in 2020. Good luck!

In my opinion, I would stick with what you have. Wait and see what happens with the Apple Silicon transition before buying your next laptop.

I agree with PBG4, unless you have a great offer for the 2017, it should last you a couple of more years... The only concern would be battery life.

Thank you LinkRS, PBG4 Dude and rdubmu .I appreciate your comments.I guess i will stick with my 2017 Pro.Thanks again for your advice!

The only reason I'd consider switching is the keyboard. My wife has the same model as you (2017 13" pro) and hates the keyboard. The 2020 air has the new keyboard. But if that's not an issue for you, then stick with what you've got.

Yeah, i guess the new keyboard is a favorite among many people.I didn't have any issues with the 2017 one. Thanks for your comment!
