Hi all,
So I've got my photos in a raided nas drive. The drive gets backed up weekly.
So my file system is exactly how I want it. I dont want to change anything there.
My pictures are in folders by date. ex: Photos/2008/april
This works well for me, I dont want to change that.
However, I like the cataloging feature of iphoto 08. If I catalog the photos using iphoto 08, will it move the photos? Or will it just build an index of them using the current paths.
For example. My music is on the same NAS. The file structure for music was manually created by band/album/song.
I am able to access that store with iTunes and it does not change the data. It just built a catalog around the music however I had it saved. This works well because I am able to go agianst those music files with a mac or PC. 1 set of data, multiple clients. The control freak in me likes that no software is changing or moving my files without my knowledge.
I would like to know if iphoto can work the same way. I hope this makes sense.
Best regards,
Don
