i have an iphone 3g 8gig and just wondering would that work out right so i can maintain my baseband? and just making sure there are unlocks for 4.2.1 out there right now right? would the latest redsn0w 0.9.b6work with any baseband like 5.12.01?

You'd either have to create a custom 4.2.1 ipsw in PwnageTool or download one to save your baseband.
