Hello,

I am noticing that as I begin to reach the one hour mark of my timelines replete with graphics, transitions, text and the like, my performance generally takes a hit.

Most noticeably, when opening sequences the video takes extra time to prepare for display.

Currently, I have all media on an external RAID 5 connected via FW800.

Here is what I am considering:

1) Connecting with eSATA instead of FW800

2) moving all of my static and motion graphics into one of the empty internal hard drives.

Would these things help?

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks,

ed

Hi there,

I recently made a project that was 1hr7mins long and even through my eSATA Cavier Black the project took about 2-3 mins to open. Generally working with the edit is just as smooth as sub-10 minute projects and they're aren't any hiccups.

I've never used the FW800 before so I'm not sure if it is a real advantage or perhaps I am working with lower quality footage etc...

If anything I can confirm that the big projects still take quite a time to open!
