Would this get me a cheaper upgrade?

I was looking at upgrade options for my the account I'm on. (My parents + me) It said that my mom's line is eligible for a 299/399 phone with a 2 year contract. Could I walk in with her phone, upgrade it then swap the sims back out so she can keep using her old phone and I can keep the new one?

Only if you are authorized to make changes to the account. If not, you'll need one of your parents to come in with you.

I tried that, and they still wanted to force me on the iPhone plan.

I am authorized, but I just realized if I did this my mom would be paying the for the iphone plan too. So there goes this idea.

There's no getting around it. I only did it to see if it would work, but after trying them and BB, I have no problems with sticking with my unlocked 2G and family plan.
