Would using Force Quit on apps dangerous?

Whenever app isn't responding, Mac has Force Quit in upper left menu - if it damages Mac or App, would they give such tool then?

I've had Numbers app pop up when opening one file, but I don't want to deal with Numbers now as I have different App for those files. But the introduction window has no way to shut it down so I had to use Force Quit as I was in a hurry.

Would it be damaging though?

The only danger is the Force Quit is it won't save any data it it, it just quits the app!
