It would be nice if apple made a dock with a full computer inside similar to the macbook body. You could dock your ipad and then use it as a full X86 computer running OSX and then detach the ipad when you want iOS tablet functionality. The iPad is as thin as most laptop LCDs so it would look like a regular macbook. It would just need a good hinge and locking mechanism design. The two devices would each have their own battery so you could get like 14 hours in docked mode under OSX or let the dock charge the iPad while the dock is off.
There really isn't a need for a separate laptop and tablet so this would give you the best of both worlds with little compromise.
