Would you buy a (used) iPhone 3gs 16GB now?

Hey, a friend of mine is selling his iphone for about 290dollars, my current phone is a nokia e71, so its time to change I think....

Do you think, the price is okay (its used, but good looking...)?

Do you think, I would have any disadvantages, especially looking at OS Updates in the future?

I'll not use any "graphic intensive" games, etc! I would just need it for email, "Things" App, Skype, MP3 etc.... i'll even not watching movies etc....

so what do you think?

I'd say if you don't need anything from the iPhone 4, the iPhone 3GS is great.


$290 for a 16gb seems too high. I'm trying to sell my 32gb 3GS for $300, and have a buyer on Craigslist ready to buy it today. And mine comes with the box + all original accessories, and an extra screen protector. All accessories are never used.


And if he's a friend, surely he shouldn't try to screw you over. I'd say $225 for a 16gb from a friend is reasonable.

After iOS 5, updates will start shedding features for the 3GS, imo.

How's the condition? Is it beat up, scratched, dented, etc?

If you are unsure at all, I would recommend that you not get it.

Well, see, in Euroes, it's worth even more. As I take it, the value of iPhones is more outside US.


Don't take it. Not for $290.


If you can get it for 140 Euroes, then sure.

Otherwise, buy an iP4.

Nope. Not sure why you're asking me though. You need to make the decision based on your own needs/wants -- not anyone else's.

You're getting ripped off. Maybe, and that's a big maybe, if its brand new, sealed, with everything. But even for that it should be a 32gb. I'd pay in the very low 200's for that.
