If you could choose. Would you buy brand new iPhone XS 64GB for 800$ or brand new iPhone 11 for 930$?

If your priorities are

1.Smaller Size (and display)
2.Display (OLED)
3.Telephoto
4.Gold color or stainless steel band

go for XS, if these are

1.Better Wide (Night Mode, Deep Fusion) and Ultra Wide camera
2.Battery
3.Larger Size (and display)
4.Display (LCD)

go for iPhone 11

I would personally go for the XS for the size, stainless steel construction and the bezel thickness...

If you want something a little bigger, latest SOC and Ultra Wide go with 11

For me the price of the 11 was too high, for a cut down iPhone, regardless of its features. I really wanted the latest and greatest, but was not willing to pay the cost of admission. I didn't even want to buy my Certified Preowned XS Max, but the mics stopped working reliably on my 7 about 6-8 months ago, the phone is only 2 years old, if that. Not impressed. On top of that, it was a replacement for the first one that did the same thing. But my new phone is such a solid upgrade, too bad I have to pay for it. They should have.

All bitterness aside, do what makes you happy. Can you really go wrong?

i concur with what everyone has said.

if you value size, OLED, and telephoto lens, go with the XS.
if you value battery life, night mode/fusion, ultra wide lens, go with the 11.

I’d go for the xs for the smaller size and because I think telephoto is a lot more useful than ultra wide. But the battery life on the 11 is tempting.

I did make that choice quite recently and in fact bought the Xs for the LED display - never had one before - and X2 lens. Also the polished steel frame looks nicer to my eyes, but that wasn't a serious consideration. On the other hand, if I was a teenager inclined to looking at my phone screen all day every day then the stronger battery life of the 11 would have been a deciding factor.

Regarding the Xs lens: I don't know how Apple gets away with calling a standard ~50mm lens a "telephoto" lens. I really wish they would come out with a 75 to 100mm equivalent lens. They had the opportunity to do this with their triple lensed iPhone. I would have upgraded in a heartbeat. But they went wider! As a photographer I disagree with that decision. It's another flashy and dramatic sales gimmick not anything customers really need. Yes, ultra wide shots are fun... but after a while that wears off. Being able to take great shots of my children's sports events from the sidelines, or portraits without distortion—that would be useful.

2x digital is about the same in quality as 2x telephoto, you should be asking yourself how often you would use 5x+, i went from x to 11 and do not notice any quality drop on any 2x zoom digital on my 11 vs my x.

the ultra wide has came in handy in so many situations. ultra wide video recording is just so convenient.

the battery life alone convinced me to get the 11, the Xs battery is pretty horrendous compare to the 11.

as for the size, you get used to it, yeah its a little bit bigger, but not by much. i myself for the longest time thinking i would regret big time if i went with the bigger 11, but now 2 months in my fingers wrap behind the 11 just as naturally as i had with my x.

I had the XS and sold it for the iPhone 11. I like the 11 WAY better. But they are both great phones. Save the money and get the latest, the iPhone 11 for $699.

I wouldn’t get a device with 64 GB storage in the first place.

I like a wide angle lens, hence I’d go for the 11.

I would (and probably will looking at fresh SE2 delay or cancellation rumors) get the 11. It’s much better over XS in key ways: camera and battery life. Yes, the design is worse, but that is something you get used to and stop paying attention to in a month or two. But image quality of your photos and those extra hours of battery would benefit you every single day.

I don’t disagree, but what makes you say this? I.e-Specifics as in camera/battery life, form factor, ect?)

- Improved rear and front cameras (night mode, 4k video recording/stabilization, audio zoom, etc)
- A13 Chip
- Longer Battery Life

Personal preferences:
- 11 has variety of colors
- 11 is larger size
- XS has OLED, stainless steel band

I’d go with the 11 for the improvement on battery life, camera and processor. Those three things are important.
