I copied a shareware app called System Optimizer off one of the more recent MacAddict CDs, but I'm wondering if it's really going to improve my system, or if it's going to f**k it up.

I did a completely fresh install of 10.1 on my Cube yesterday, and I don't want to bog it down with something that may give me trouble.

The Read Me file:
System Optimizer X is a shareware application that improves your system, individual application, and internet connection speed. SOX improves your system speed by executing "update_prebinding" and/or compressing window buffers to save RAM. SOX can speed up your internet connection by "tweaking" your network buffers according to your connection's base speed. You can also use Application Prioritizing to prioritize applications withe the CPU. Keep in mind you need to restart your computer after changing settings or enabling features. After the "System Optimization" (first tab) your computer will actually run more slowly until you restart. I recommend running the "System Optimization" at least once a month but once a week doesn't hurt. And no, System Optimizer X is not the same as "MacJanitor."

Is it worth it to install the program and rerun it every so often? Give me a thumbs up or thumbs down. :)
