if you could:
would you return your 2018 macbook pro to wait for the 2019 to come out?

Personally, i am about to return my 2018 i9 - just for a gift card so if i get desperate i will re buy or hold out for the next.

It has been a very rocky road with mine from 5 replacements due to poping sound, speakers, and one track pad issue.. iv had enough.

Dare i mention the one i currently have has a dead pixel line running all the way down the screen that just showed up yesterday. Mind you, this mac sits on my desk 100% of the time and when not in use is in a case.

I anticipate these 2019s will be great as apple is pressured more than ever to make a great machine.

Wow, 5 replacements. Saying you've been unlucky is the understatement of the year.

Personally, had it of happened to me, I would have gone for a refund after the second time so well done for being defiant lol.

The very fact you're thinking of getting a refund, this tells me you can wait and you probably should given we're not too far away from WWDC.

I am on #5 myself and have had some issues with this one as well. I had a recent phone conversation with Executive Relations about the issues I have had with these. Unfortunately, the did not offer me the option of a refund, though I didn't really press for it either. But had they, I would have taken it and if I continue to have issues, I *will* be pushing for it and waiting to see what 2019 might bring.

Edit: I say that and I just had another BridgeOS crash 3.16 :(

Upon hearing the increasing occurrences of the 2018 model's keyboard failure, I opted to sell mine. The proceeds were more or less enough to cover the purchase of a new laptop.

Personally, I wouldn't gamble my money on it, and I'm not sold there's enough pressure on apple to get it right in 2019, when they failed to get it right in 2016, 17 or 18.

Never had issues with the keyboard, or anything on my 2018 MBP in fact I spilled a bottle of water all over it and it works flawlessly.

That is good to hear. Hopefully, you will continue to have years of trouble free service out of yours. Some of us have unfortunately not been so lucky, but always good to hear the flip side :)

Just still hoping we will see at least a peak at WWDC.

Maybe something like they did with the imac pro we see it but it wont be out till fall.

I think we will see at least a redesign. They cant keep up with modern CPUs at the moment. Either Apple releases a mac with 9th gen chips that are still 14nm and 8 cores in their current build and they catch on fire (litterally) // they wait till 2020 to release a mac with sunny cove (too long to wait for pros with crippled machines). // or they redesign the chassis and we see one mid to late summer (release or preview)

Thanks for the compliment. Never had issues with any of my gadgets drowned in water my whole life. :D

Well then you never got the circuit board wet. Good luck it is! Because a mixture water/moisture, soldering points, and electronic components = corrosion and eventual failure. Like I said, sounds like you've got good luck. Peace.

Does anyone know if production has ended on 2018 models in prep for 2019?

I noticed that 3 out of my 5 replacements were manufactured last November.

I don’t think anyone will have this data on here, as that would be insider information that only would be revealed by leaked info. Odds are they are still producing 2018 model computers (you can still custom order 2018 machines) and won’t begin production at large scale until 1-2 months prior to launch of a 2019 model, if one gets released this year.

A little off topic, but maybe pertinent to this discussion...Best Buy is having a big sale on all 2018 MacBook Pros. They are offering $400 off 13" models and $500 off 15" models. This is the largest discount they've offered since they were released. I'm hoping that means the 2019 MacBook Pros will be here by summer!

i think all the sales going on are in fact a big sign of 2019s coming out at some point this year. Students are mid semester right now and there no other reason for a sale so big.

No issue with the one I have, so I have not reason to return it. Maybe the i7 suffers fewer issues?

Mine works fine with my audio interfaces for recording, and video and audio editing using Adobe products. Also works OK for programming, but is a little pokey for what I do because of the lack of an Nvida GPU.

Sorry to hear about your issues. if I had that many issues I would consider returning it.
