I was having all kinds of issues with drop calls, mainly due to the proximity sensor, and some because of antenna issues. Ever since I installed the GM of 4.2.1, all of those problems went away.

This coupled with all the new features 4.2.1 gonna bring to the iPad world makes this the best iOS release ever!

Wow, it's about time!

I wouldn't call it "best release yet" for iPhones. Now this release brings iPads up to speed with other iOS devices out there and for an iPad owner this will be a very nice upgrade. For iPhones this is just another update with a few features added to iOS but definately not the best release yet lol.

When my iPhone can teleport me to any place on the planet and brainwash everyone around me that I am king. Only then will an iOS release be the "best release yet".

When my iPhone will let me choose the sound I want as a Text Tone, then I'll get excited

My experience with 3.x, 4.x, etc. releases is that they usually worsen your experience with each successive update. The x.0 updates are by far the best. Each addition .x update is usually to 1) remove JB exploits, 2) remove functions Apple accidentally allowed, or 3) to add some fluff to keep the below-average intelligence customers sedated for doing either #1 or #2.

Of course the best thing about 4.2 is the new stupidly long and pretty much unusable text tones, every time suspense goes off, I think there's a madman behind me

Careful study reveals evidence that Steve Jobs may already be field testing the "best release yet" of iOS. :apple:

best release was 1.1.1

which let me jailbreak and unlock the phone over wifi before I even got back to the Canadian side of the border.

You do realize that worked with 4.0.1 and jailbreakme.com? Momentary fun.

He was referring to the fact that until that OS update you couldn't use an iPhone in Canada. The iPhone wasn't offered by any carriers until the 3G

Hellllll no. 4.0.x was crap compared to 4.1, and 4.2 should be even better.

Can't speak for 1.x 2.x or 3.x.

EDIT: well I can say that 3.1x was pretty damn solid.

Every new feature on 4.2.1 sounds like it's going to be just ok, but my questions is will it make safari feel any snapier?? ;):D:apple:

Get over it it's just apple giving us a little bit more a little more to keep the weak-minded hooked on thinking its all good in Appleland.

2.0 was a POS. My then brand new 3G was laggy as hell, writting text messages was an almost impossible task.

Wow, that's it! I've been feeling so sedated lately....

You must be fun to hang out with in real life
