I was just listening to my local radio station Kc101 here in CT. And Carson from TRL just said this whole thing on the new music service, and saying what artist really belive in this service. Im just surprised it was mention but what great exposure they'll get with him saying that on his nationwide show.

Excellent! Yeah, it's getting major coverage. Question is wether it'll push people to the Mac platform. Obviously a lot of artists use Macs and iPods, so they're not representative of the general public.

Hey, I wonder if you'll get people who have Windows versions of iPods and go to the Apple store just to download songs to their iPod from the kiosks. Hahaha, that would be funny. I don't see anybody going out of their way to do that, except maybe for the lucky few that have Apple Stores at their favorite local mall. I mean, if a CD is $15 at the Sam Goody, but a few doors down you can download the 3 songs you really want for $3, then why not?

P.S. Not to quibble, but how is this thread political?

is this in the wrong forum, if it is im sorry i clicked on the other mac topics area. If some can move this to the right place, thanx. and sorry againbout the wrong posting wasnt paying attention.

There was a half page article in the second largest Danish newpaper today too, in spite of it is only available in the US. So yeah it's getting very good advertising everywhere.

Good publicity, bad person.

HAHA:D I agree! They should've had Ian Robbinson talk about it some more instead of Carson. Ian is a Mac user and can really appreciate what Apple does. Carson is a puppet.

dude whatever. i can't stand it when people who think they are so underground and edgy hate on people in the pop scene. carson is cool. he's a great guy and he's a good radio/tv personality. he also has much greater visibility than any underground hero or cult icon will ever have. thats the nature of the word 'pop' now isn't it? good press is good press. end of story.

Carson is a puppet.

Whatever dude. He's got the best talk show on television, in my opinion ("Last Call with Carson Daly", I'm not referring to any of the tripe on MTV). Seems like he calls all the shots over there - he has a totally different style and does much better interviews than just about anything I've seen on TV or in print. I give him mad props for "Last Call."

I agree. I listen to a lot of different types of underground music and used to be one of those people that hated the pop scene. But a lot of people now are listening to pop and underground. Who cares if he's Carson Daly? It doesn't really matter if Apple is making money off of publicity that they didn't pay for.

excuse my ignorance, but who's carson daley?? I'm ennnnnnglsih (austin powers quote)

He became famous for hosting the show "Total Request Live" on MTV. The show had a huge influence in terms of promoting the likes of Britney, N'Sync, etc., since most people who called in were teenyboppers. Recently, however, he has a late-late (1:30 AM) talk show which I think is quite good. He also appeared as himself in the movie "Josie and the Pussycats".

Now what would be really cool if he started having the 10 most requested songs on the itunes music store everyday, that would get very good publicity.

That would be awesome, right when they do the recap spend 5 seconds with the top 10 downloaded songs, and he could say "Todays top downloaded song from the Apple Online Music Store was ABC by BCD"

that would be cool (about the thing with the top 10 songs on the service) carson is ok, but he is much better on last call. TRL is a way for people who listen to really bad music to find out about cool things. i occasionally turn it on whenever ND or RHCP are on.

(it's called the "iTunes Music Store")
