Wow Quartz Composer files in Safari - fast performance & fun

Just clickied on a .qtz file in Safar and was amazed by the performance, and the nice icon that draws as its loading/initialising.

The following is not my site or quartz composition, but is a mouse-reactive piece and has a very high framerate on my Leoparded Macbook Pro:

When Tiger first came out I looked at Quartz Composer effects in the browser and Im sure the performance was nothing like that. Makes Flash and Microsoft Silverlight seem very slow in comparison.

Interested to know how it works on slower machines. Hopefully PPC Macs arent excluded. There are quite a few good .qtz files out there on the net, and everyone is sure to hear more about this stuff due to the itunes visualizers & video effects using the same technology in Leopard.

Actually this may have been present since 10.4.7 when Apple added Quartz Composer support in Dashboard to create widgets.

But I never know it performed so fast, perhaps that is new with Leopard.

http://www.quartzcompositions.com/phpBB2/upload/index.php is a site with lots of quartz compositions on, most will work with Tiger and Leopard, not all of them are eyecandy, some wont make sense, and I doubt many or any of them will work in iChat or as itunes visualisers in Leopard as there arent many compositions written to take account of these new developments yet.

But if you have Tiger and/or a non-Intel Mac and are getting annoyed by being left out of all the fun, Im pretty sure there are existing apps that allow Quartz Composer effects to be used as iTunes visualizers and in iChat. And Quartz Composer screensaver capability has existed since Tiger.
