Just clickied on a .qtz file in Safar and was amazed by the performance, and the nice icon that draws as its loading/initialising.
The following is not my site or quartz composition, but is a mouse-reactive piece and has a very high framerate on my Leoparded Macbook Pro:

When Tiger first came out I looked at Quartz Composer effects in the browser and Im sure the performance was nothing like that. Makes Flash and Microsoft Silverlight seem very slow in comparison.
Interested to know how it works on slower machines. Hopefully PPC Macs arent excluded. There are quite a few good .qtz files out there on the net, and everyone is sure to hear more about this stuff due to the itunes visualizers & video effects using the same technology in Leopard.
Oh yes and here is my very favorite creator of Quartz Compositions in the past, some of his work is amazing:
