Hi there,

I'm thinking of buying a new MacBook Air M1 (16GB). According to many reports, it will certainly be enough for me at home.

However, I occasionally play World of Warcraft (currently TBC Classic). My question is whether the M1 Air is able to play the game on an external monitor (LG32UN880) with a resolution of 2560x1440. Has anyone tried this yet? Unfortunately I can't find any videos about it.

My second question is how long is it possible to play because the M1 Air is passively cooled.

Thanks in advance.

you can play wow Shadowlands or Classic stuck at 60fps with medium to low settings at 2048x1280. I play shadowlands big raids with these settings without any problem. If you try to play 2560x1440 you will need to play with all settings low and your fps will be going around 40-60. Still playable. The temps will be around 55-72. Really amazing without fans... keep in mind this is about 2.6TFlops gpu compared to original playstaion 4 around 1.8TFlops... External display theoriticaly will not make any difference in performance.*I forgot to say in settings i put a cap up to 60fps to avoid any unnecessary overheat. You can play as long as you want without limit. There are many times i w8 for hours to inv me in raids and i have safari open with many tabs, social, emails etc. Absolutely np at all... I have the MacBook air 8gb ram with 7cores gpu.... in 8cores model will be a little bit better.

Many thanks for the insight.
I Make a small video on YouTube to show how its looking the latest wow gameplay in basic MacBook air M1. On upper bar you can see also the temps of highest Cpu and the package performance cores.

Wow! Thank you for your effort! I would not have expected that. For occasional play this is okay for me.
Could you do another test? Could you set "Graphics Quality" to 3 and "Shadow Quality" on low and tell me your observations?

With Shadows quality on low you have no shadows on players. this is the changing. I prefer to see my shadow at least. Also i usually play at graphics quality to 5. But for mega raids with many ppl this is not priority and i dont want to have any fps drop or any lag. But i will post another video l8ter. Be good =)

Another one video with all medium settings in the same resolution. As you can see no fps drops at this time BUT with temperatures go immediately up-to 82c. I don't suggest to play this game with these temperatures while it demands many hours of gameplay.

Many, many thanks ? I really appreciate your videos. I'm surprised how good the M1 Air handles the game despite of its passive cooling.

Have a nice weekend!
