It seems now everytime I see the regular ipad in a commercial or on someone I think wow that thing is huge and out dated. Anyone else feel this way?

Could the mini be the future of iPad?

Mac laptops come in 11", 13", 15", [and 17"] sizes.

iPads now come in 7.9" and 9.7" sizes. You can argue that iPod touch is the iPad nano at 4" (they run the same O/S).

The 9.7" iPad doesn't seem outdated by virtue of screen size. But it feels awkward by virtue of thickness and weight.

So I think the next-gen full size iPad will be under pressure to slim down.

After a weekend with both I can say that I see the point of both. I feel that the regular iPad is the ideal screen size, while the mini is the ideal weight. I think that both products are compromises, though I think that I prefer the compromise of the mini.
Though I did find myself putting my glasses on to use the mini after about an hour of reading, while I never felt the need to do that with the 10 inch iPad.
